Galaxy Nails!

Hey guys!

I'm so happy that I finally get to take my last neuro exam today... I absolutely can't wait to have a nice long weekend! And the weather has been amazing, so as usual, there will be a lot of outdoor activities in my near future.

Today I'm really excited to show you my current nails. I've always loved the look of galaxy nails, partly because I think the universe is so amazingly fascinating and mysterious, and also because they just look really neat! I did this manicure on Tuesday after my first test as a nice way to relax and debrief, and I really really love how they turned out.

Click the "Read more" link below to see more pictures and to learn a little bit about how I achieved this look!

Let me start off by saying that these galaxy nails were so easy to do! I swear! All I needed were some polishes and a couple makeup wedges. Once I saw this tutorial of how to do galaxy nails by Jen at Polish and Pearls, I knew I had to try it... it just took me a while to actually get around to it. I really love Jen's blog because she does some really cute and complex nail looks that don't take too much time or effort to do, and she posts a lot of great tutorials that show how she does it all! And her methods are so creative yet fairly simple. You should check it out! So thanks, Jen, for inspiring my favorite manicure to date!

I started with a base of two coats of OPI Black Onyx, a super smooth black creme. Then I used a makeup sponge to dab on China Glaze Sexy in the City (medium blue shimmer), China Glaze Kinetic Candy (a grey-ish baby blue creme), and Zoya Shelby (baby pink creme). I think all these colors complimented each other so nicely - I especially like how Sexy in the City adds dimension with the shimmer, and how Shelby turned out looking kind of purple with the blue and black, adding a really nice yet subtle contrast!

Next I added one thick layer of Essie Carnival, an amazing holo glitter. Once I added that, my nails instantly looked like outer space. I waited for Carnival to dry, then went fishing for some multicolored holographic glitter in Cirque XX (you can see my original post here) to add a little extra to each nail. Then I finished off with some Seche Vite.

In the sun, these nails really stand out because of the holo glitter. It didn't translate as well as I wanted in my photos, but you get the point (hopefully).

Here are the polishes I used from left to right:
- OPI Black Onyx
- China Glaze Sexy in the City
- China Glaze Kinetic Candy
- Zoya Shelby
- Essie Carnival
- Cirque XX

And now, on to the nails! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do haha :p

So those are my galaxy nails. I've been wearing these for two days now, and I'll be a little sad when I take it off... but I need to so that I can do my first prompt for the Hobby Polish Bloggers May Challenge. I'll just have to replace them with something really cool (hopefully).

Has anyone else attempted this kind of mani? It's way easier than it looks, so I definitely recommend trying it out if it's something you're interested in doing!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by my little piece of the nail blogging world, and I hope you have an amazing day. =)

  5. LOVE THESE!! I actually did the same using her tutorial last year and seeing how good yours turned out makes me want to re-do mine!! Love it! The Cirque XX I think is way better than the glitter topper that I used!

    1. Thanks so much, Dani! You should definitely try it again.. it took a few tries of re-layering the different colors to get the effect I wanted, but the great thing about the method I used is that it dries quickly and you can go over it with a sponge without messing it up! Let me know if you try again. I think you should =)
