Summer Challenge - Pink Neon

Hey guys!

It's the weekend! Yay! Does anyone have any exciting plans? I might go camping tomorrow night... still not sure yet. I'm also going hiking in a bit to a really cool place that has an underground waterfall... it's beautiful! And it feels like the weather is going to be perfect today. =D

I have my second mani for the Hobby Polish Bloggers Step Into Summer Challenge to show you today. If you missed my first ikat skittle mani, you can check it out here. This second theme is all about neon, and when I received my first ever KBShimmer polishes in the mail this week, I knew I had to showcase them somehow! Click on the Read More link below to see the look I created!

Last week I ordered Don't Pink Twice and Grayscale from KBShimmer's new collection for summer 2013. These are the first two polishes I've ever used/owned by KBShimmer, and I'm so happy with both of them! I'll be dedicating a whole post to both of these polishes sometime next week, since they're that awesome!

For now, just a little bit about the mani. I really love how Don't Pink Twice dries matte - it gives it an added flair that sets it apart from other pink neon polishes. And the formula was incredible. I love Grayscale because not only does it contain a mix of white and black glitter, but it also has some grey glitter in there as well! Such a pleasant surprise.

I used Don't Pink Twice as a base on all of my fingers except the middle. For my middle nail, I did a gradient using OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white), Jessica Monarch (grey), and OPI Black Onyx. I used the same three colors to make the dots on my thumb.

On my ring finger, I used one easy coat of KBShimmer Grayscale over Don't Pink Twice.

For the stripes on my pointer and pinkie fingers, I used two new black and white polish stripers by CM. I've actually never used stripers before, I've always just used striping tape. Although the lines didn't come out perfectly by any means, that's completely okay with me, because the lines were so easy to create! Much less of a hassle than striping tape. And this mani is kind of all over the place anyway, so the messy lines don't bother me. It's funny how doing nail art has started to make me less of a perfectionist. I like it.

I didn't add top coat to anything, because I really like the contrast between the matte texture of Don't Pink Twice and the gloss of the other polishes. I love playing around with different textures!

I hope you guys enjoy my kind of crazy neon mani! I may have gone slightly overboard, but that's okay. This is a true skittle, so I guess it could apply to the first theme of the challenge as well. I hope you guys will participate in this challenge with us! Check out the other ladies' designs using the links below!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have an awesome weekend! =D
