Zoya Piaf Swatch and Review

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! And if not, don't worry, because it's almost the weekend! I've been studying a lot this week because I have two big neuro tests next week, so this weekend probably won't be too exciting. But I'm really looking forward to next weekend when I will (hopefully) have absolutely nothing to worry about. =)

Today I want to show you a polish that was released a few months ago as part of Zoya's Lovely collection, which contained six soft but colorful shades that have been perfect for spring. This polish is called Piaf (maybe named after Edith Piaf? who knows). Click on the link below to see more pictures and a review!

Piaf is a really interesting and unique color - it's really hard to describe, and I took a bunch of pictures so I could just let the pictures do the talking! But I'll still try my best. On one hand, I want to call Piaf a metallic, but on the other hand I want to call it a shimmer. I think I'm going to go with metallic because of the prominent silver glitter particles and the metallic sheen that you can see really well in the light. This is definitely not your typical yellow polish - it leans a little darker, a little more mustard, and has a dusty grey-ish quality to it. It also leans slightly on the green side of yellow, so it makes it less wearable for some skin tones. I was pretty pale when I took these pictures a couple of months ago, so Piaf and my skin definitely did NOT agree - it brought out the red in my fingers, and made my hands look even more pale than they were, almost ghost-like, which I definitely didn't like. But I really do like the color - I love yellow polishes, and I love this one for being so different! Maybe I'll try it again soon, as I've already started the process of getting darker in the warmer weather. I think it'll look awesome once I have more color! I've seen swatches on girls with darker skin tones, and this looks great!

The formula was a little bit thick, but not difficult to work with by any means. I used three coats for the pictures below with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri to top it all off.

Indoors, artificial light.
Indoors, artificial light.
Outdoors, sunlight.
Outdoors, shade.
So what do you think of Piaf? Has anyone else tried it? Did it complement your skin tone? You can see in my pictures how the greenish undertones in this polish bring out all the redness in my fingers. But oh well, it's a pretty shade, and something has to be said about a completely unique polish at this point considering how many polishes are out there now. I'll try this again in a couple months and give an update!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I can't decide if I want this or not..in the bottle, it's so pretty, but I see that it reads a little green on most bloggers, which I don't like.

    1. Yeah it does have a prominent green tinge to it... I think it would be a pretty hard shade for most people to pull off, and it probably looks best on darker/tan skin.

    1. It is a really beautiful shade! And I agree... ugly-pretty shades are always so interesting and intriguing. I just wish Piaf went better with my skin tone!
