Scotch Tape Kind-of-Retro Nails

Happy Friday!

I'm excited that it's almost the weekend!  Even though I've only been back at school for a couple of weeks, I'm still so ready for a 3-day break.  I'm going camping and roughing it through the cold.  It's supposed to be beautiful out this weekend though, so I think it'll be great!

Today, I want to show you some nail art that I did using scotch tape.  I was inspired by this manicure on My Nail Graffiti.  I think the look ended up looking kind of retro... the colors i used and the geometric pattern remind of of the 60s.  Click on the link below to see more photos!

I started off with two coats of Essie Play Date (the purple creme).  Next, I used scotch tape to create the crisp lines.  The two other colors I used are China Glaze Kinetic Candy (the dusty greyish-blue creme) and Zoya Aurora.  If you haven't seen Aurora yet, you're missing out.  It's such an amazing plum polish with scattered holographic glitter.  It's so pretty and unique, and these pictures don't do it justice.  It's just so sparkly and magical in the sun.

Left Hand.  Sunlight.
Right hand.  Sunlight.
Right hand.  Shade.

This next picture is really blurry, but I wanted to at least try to capture the holographic sparkle in Aurora.

I really like this look, and I like how it ended up with that kind of retro feel.  I don't know if it's really retro at all, but that's just what my nails remind me of when I look at them.  This manicure took a little longer than expected because I had to wait for each polish to dry before applying more tape, but it was worth it.  My awesome and talented roommate was inspired by the colors I chose and painted a really cool picture while I polished my nails.  We had a nice night filled with creativity and purple and green/blue. Here's the final result, I love how the two look together! And the purple sea monster thing is just so adorable.

So that's it for now!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Any fun plans?

Thanks for reading =)

    1. Thanks so much, Little Miss Nailpolish! I've definitely been on a bright kick after all the darker vampy colors we've been seeing for winter and fall
