Gradient Nails!

Hey guys!

This week I attempted gradient nails for the first time, and I actually think they turned out pretty nice!  I have always loved the gradient look -  there are so many different ways you can do it and so many color combinations... the possibilities are endless!  I think I've just always been a little afraid to attempt the gradient look because I assumed it would be too hard, but I was so wrong.  Check out the photos after the jump!

For this look I used a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  Once the white base was dry, I used a makeup wedge and three colors: Essie Where's My Chauffeur?, Essie Play Date, and China Glaze Pink Voltage (an amazing neon pink).

Basically all I did was paint a line of each color onto the wedge, then dab the wedge onto the nail.  You have to repaint the wedge for each nail, but the process is actually really quick and easy, and it doesn't use as much polish as some other methods I've seen. I can make a tutorial for another post if anyone wants to see how I did it.  Some polish does get on the skin around the nail, but after cleanup, the gradient turns out great!  Finally, I finished with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat.

This first photo was taken indoors (sorry it's a little blurry!)

These next two were taken outdoors:

In the sun
In the shade

One of my friends noted that my nails match my cell phone case... and they actually kind of do!  I guess I must like this color scheme... haha :p

So what do you think of gradient nails? I love that you can achieve such a fun look without using too much time or effort.  I think I'll be doing a lot of gradients in the near future. Next I want to do a dark blue to light blue gradient, or dark purple to light purple, or maybe a sunset gradient... AGH! I don't even know, I'm probably going to try a lot of different things, and, of course, I'll post them here. =)

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
