Essie Bikini So Teeny and Shine of the Times

Hey guys!

I hope everyone's week is going well so far. =) Mine has been good... yesterday we learned how to draw blood, and then we practiced on each other!  Usually my veins are really hard to find so I was a little nervous, but my partner did an amazing job and it was the best blood draw I've ever had, no joke!  Also, it's kinda sorta almost the weekend! So I'm happy.  Especially because it's a 3-day weekend and I'm going camping despite the cold weather.  I can't wait!

Today I want to show you not one, but two of my favorite polishes!  Both are Essie, which is a bit odd because I'm not the biggest fan of Essie.  I usually feel like the formula on Essie polishes leave much to be desired.  But these two polishes are so pretty that I can overlook any shortcomings their formulas may have.  They're called Bikini So Teeny and Shine of the Times.  You can read more and see pictures after the jump.

Bikini So Teeny was released last June as part of Essie's summer collection.  It is SUCH a beautiful light sky blue color that could pass as a pastel in certain lighting... it's both soft and bright at the same time.  I think it looks elegant on the nails, but it's also vivid and fun.  So basically it's just an amazing polish color-wise, and I think it's great for any time of the year.  The formula isn't the best, but it's not horrible either.  The first coat goes on very streaky, so I recommend using a very thin coat and just accepting that there will be spots and streaksThe second coat even things out somewhat, and by the third coat, the polish looks even and streak-free.  It really isn't too hard to work with... you just can't overwork the formula.

Next I used Essie Shine of the Times, an awesome flakie top caot, to make a few accent nails.  It looks amazing over both light and dark colors and adds such an interesting dimension to any manicure.  The flakies mostly flash red, green, and orange, or at least those are the colors I could see.

The photos make Bikini So Teeny seem slightly brighter than it is in real life, but I tried to get them as color-accurate as possible.  The first photo is the most accurate in terms of color.  While you can see a subtle silver shimmer in the bottle, it doesn't translate on the nail and I would basically consider the polish a creme.  Which is completely fine because it's so beautiful.

Right Hand. Sunlight.

Right hand. Shade.

Left hand. Indoors.

Have you guys tried either Bikini So Teeny or Shine of the Times? I think they're both great polishes, and they look really pretty together!

As always, thanks for stopping by, and have a great Wednesday!
